I hear it all the time, small business clients and mid to large sized businesses alike, want to know how to increase business for their company. Shocker, right? Now, obviously this is a broad question which can have a number of different answers depending on that particular business, their current sales and marketing strategies, and what exactly their definition of “increasing business” really means. However, most of them seem to be frustrated with traditional marketing strategies and channels, and are looking for a new, effective way to market their products or services without breaking the bank.

What I believe to be the most effective marketing tactic today, which I almost always suggest no matter what kind of business this person owns or markets for, is an online marketing strategy called Inbound Marketing. In my last post, I broke down exactly what inbound marketing is, and ways that businesses can benefit from it. In this post, I’ll dive a little deeper into how exactly Inbound Marketing can increase sales and profits for both business to consumer and business to business companies.

Why are you looking for a new way to market your business?

There could be a number of reasons why your company is looking for some new tactics to “market”.

  • Increase brand awareness
  • Generate new and/or more qualified leads
  • Retain and nurture current customers
  • Increase Sales
  • Business is stagnant or hitting a plateau
  • Need a more cost effective marketing strategy

If any of these common business issues sound like something you’ve been dealing with lately, Inbound Marketing may be just the tactic to rejuvenate your business.

Let’s walk you through the high-level steps that can increase business for your company:

  • Create a blog for your business that contains remarkable content that your potential customers will want to read and will attract them to your website
  • Use keyword research and search engine optimization (SEO) techniques to find what your target market is searching the internet for, and make sure you appear in the organic search rankings to be found
  • Push your content (as well as other interesting, relatable third party content) via your social media channels to engage your customers
  • Develop captivating and relevant calls-to-action (CTAs) to lead your prospect down the path you want them to go
  • Convert leads using cohesive, interest-building landing pages
  • Nurture leads to become customers through email offers and updates, workflows, and ongoing contact
  • Close more sales and sign more clients by capturing important customer insights and qualifying information
  • Turn customers or clients into brand evangelists by providing them with the best product or service possible, and the best possible experience with your brand

Whether you are selling products or services, directly to consumers or to other businesses, your target audience is searching the internet to find out details about the product or service you provide, albeit in a somewhat indirect manner. So, figure out what questions they have that relate to your industry or specific product/service, and be the one to answer those questions to build a trusting and engaging online community outlet for them.

Bottom Line?

The Inbound Marketing method allows you to build a trust relationship with your target audience. Inbound attracts prospects that likely would have never even come across your website without the creation of your wonderful content, and your product or service to back it up.

Inbound Strategy can be successful for any company, I repeat, any company, with the commitment of the business owners and employees, remarkable content that relates to the problem your product or service solves, and consistency.

Closing Thought:

Anyone can make it happen with the right strategy, and if you need a little help getting started, consider hiring an Inbound Marketing speaker to train you an your staff, or a consultant to help with strategy and implementation, or an Inbound Marketing Agency to take care of everything!
